Custom Ranch Gate Options
We build any gate you want as long as the design offers sufficient structural support for your custom gate.
American Pole & Timber is an expert in shipping large pieces such as large timber trusses or oversized poles so shipping your ranch gate will not be an issue. We either ship it whole or for larger versions we ship in pieces and offer on-site installation.
All of our gates are built using ball-bearing hinges but other options for hinges are available upon request. We offer swinging as well as sliding gates.
Types of Wood
Your custom ranch gates can be built with any wood you choose. Different species of wood have different physical properties such as strength, longevity, and resistance to rot. We can help you decide which wood might work best for your design or climate. Wood options include:

Metal Components
Your gate has a lot of metal in it — for support, strength, design elements, and smoother operation. As for everything else your options when it comes to metal components are boundless . Some of the metal options include:
- Custom ranch brand, company logo, family crest, initials, images (silhouettes), or symbols
- Ball bearing hinges (standard)
- Powder coating color — all metal components are powder coated and you can pick the color (black is standard)
- Rivets
- Finial tops on metal bars or posts
- Post caps
- Hanging signs

Unlimited Design Options
Your design is only limited by the available support structure to hold up the gate (we can also provide these components) and/or your budget.
You can bring your own design or we can design a custom gate for you based on your description. We can provide engineer-stamped drawings if you need them to meet certain building requirements or codes.
Support Structure
American Pole & Timber also supplies components for the wood and metal support structure as well as hardware for custom ranch and entrance gates. The support structures we offer include:
